because i'm such a sheep; BAA!

i'm answering the Friday five today...

1. What is your favorite time of year? autumn is my favorite season. although, i do like different times of the year for different reasons, like holidays and vacations.

2. What is it about your favorite season that, well, makes it your favorite season? the changing leaves, hallowe'en, the cooler temperatures after surviving the sweltering summer in atlanta. the festivals and the smell of the breezes.

3. What is your least favorite time of year? Why? often times, i dislike the transistion times between seasons, though i don't dislike any particular season. the "in-between" times are sometimes yucky and unpredictable.

4. Do you do anything to celebrate or recognize the changing of seasons? yes. i'm wiccan, so there are four holidays which mark the equinoxes and the solstices. and even if i don't have an elaborate ritual, or people to celebrate with... i do something special to mark the passing of each of the days. i have to say that i miss having the renn fest in the autumn, as well as the spring, too.

5. What's your favorite thing to do outside? wow. that's a tough question. there are lots and lots of things i like to do outside, but i guess i'd have to say my very favorite is sitting on a beach, during the summer and watching and listening to the water.

March 21, 2002

apparently, i share a birthday with ...

rosie o'donnell
matthew broderick
they each turn 40 today.

jeffrey dahmer, if he were still alive would be 42.

gary oldman turns 44 today.

timothy dalton is older than either of my parents, as he turns 56 today.

the famous civil rights activist, who has more than a few things named after him here in atlanta, ralph abernathy would have been 76 today.

and both modest mussorgsky and johann sebastian bach were born on this day, as well.

and, then my poor mother, who was forced to be in the hospital for three days before i was actually born. although, i have to admit that i've liked that my birthday is usually the first day, or first full day of spring.

it's difficult for me throughout the year for me to be living so far from my assorted friends and family, but even more so on my birthday. i would want to gather everyone together just to be with me, regardless of what we did.

i don't need big birthday celebrations. but i am a little sad that they have become so small, anymore.

rather than being sad about not being able to celebrate much today, i will spend the time thinking of all of those people that i love. in all the different places that they are. i'll hope that their days are sunny and happy, and that each and every one of them know just how very much i love them. and how thankful i am that they are a part of my life, even if they are physically distant from me.

i wish i could hug every one of you. that would be my birthday wish this year.
