today is my first day back home in over a week.
i left last monday around noontime, and arrived at my parents' house at about 5am on tuesday.
on tuesday, my mom made a wonderful dinner. my nephew got to celebrate his 7th birthday for the 3rd(!) time, and i gave my sister and her new husband their wedding gift.
on wednesday, i visited my great aunt at her home outside pittsburgh, and dropped our car at the airport so wallace could drive to my parents' house when he arrived thursday night.
on thursday, i went out shopping with my sister, nephew and daughter. my parents bought a new car. almost every person in our family got a haircut of some kind -- a short (just past chin-length) bob for me. wallace's flight was delayed a few times, he finally made it three and a half hours late. and then he had to drive another three to get to my parents' house. the windshild wipers in the car stopped working around dubois.
on friday, wallace, savannah and i went out shopping. we had the wedding rehersal at the church. we had the rehersal dinner at a restaurant in clearfield. we stayed up late, and my mom gave my sister's new husband a watch that had belonged to my dearly departed friend joe.
on saturday, we watched my sister get married. savannah performed her duties as flower girl fabulously. i read during mass, and fucked up royally. it was a nice ceremony, as far as catholic weddings are concerned. we all had a good time at the reception, even though we barely knew anyone. read: 16 people on my sister's side, and about 60 some on her husband's side. said good-bye to my sister, who is currently honeymooning in newfoundland.
on sunday, we had a very nice luncheon with friends and family who came to the wedding. we packed up our things and drove to central virginia, where we spent the night in a hotel.
on monday, we drove the rest of the way home. and, i stayed up too late watching 'panic room'.
today, i paid all the bills for the month and have been in touch with wallace off and on, who is out getting our windshield wiper issue resolved.
and, i don't even want to think of the list of things i need to do/catch up on since i've been gone.
my application for school is offically under review, and i should know in the next week or so if i've been accepted. and then, i'll have to figure out how i can afford it.
savannah begins school in less than a month. i am unreasonably excited and terrified.
i have high hopes of getting my house clean, and possibly having a yard sale. gods, what could be next -- a minivan? a book club?
i will need to stay busy, so i don't think about the fact that my parents and nephew are in myrtle beach right now, and i'm not.
so, i guess i should go do some laundry.
or at least think about dinner.
