yeah, i'm still here.
right now, i'm wrapped up with fantasizing about my upcoming weekend. we are going to st. simons island for a wedding on saturday, and spending part of the rest of the weekend in savannah. i don't have anything good to wear. i do however, have my hair in a state that makes me happy for the first time in a long while.
there is a lot to do.
savannah has been making her rounds at doctor's appointments that have been overdue. she went to the optometrist for the first time in years. (those visits used to be like visiting the 7th circle of hell, when she was a baby.) but, the visit we had a couple of weeks ago wasn't bad at all.
remarkably, her eyesight is better than either wallace's or mine. and, i'm crossing my fingers that it remains that way -- if it can, for a while.
savannah and i spend last friday afternoon, trying to have an mri done. this ended up being a bit more involved than i'd originally expected.
it is my opinion that my child has a very high metabolism. so, she managed to be quite a challenge to sedate. mri's are not the most pleasant of things, and for small children, they must be sedated to help keep them still to be able to successfully manage an mri.
the first drug they gave her seemed to be okay, until the tech had the brilliant idea of marking the specific area in question with tape. (which is a dimple at the end of her tailbone.) this required us to move her, as well as pull her clothing down to be able to secure the tape on this area, which woke her up -- and apparently pissed her off too.
they gave her a second drug, and she fought it like crazy. finally they ended up having to give her a third one -- ketamine. which is apparently a tranquilizer they also give to animals, as well as being popular with the rave crowd.
from what i've read about it, it sounds scary. it's apparently similar to pcp, which i've never tried, but also never heard anything positive about... she was quite stoned, for sure. and hopefully, they managed to get decent pictures so we won't have to be doing that again any time soon.
wallace got a new computer and i'm still trying to remedy the memory issue i have with my own computer. i'm running really slooow, and need to add memory, but one thing or another seems to prevent this from happening.
now, after a day of trying i hope i am finally settled on hotel reservations. i am annoyed with the hotel i originally reserved, as they decided to publish a cheaper rate for the time we would be at the hotel. but, they didn't want to change my original reservation. so i found another hotel (slightly cheaper) and cancelled them. assholes.
add to that the fact that i haven't done much of anything today -- most especially things that i really need to get under control before we go like laundry, packing, cleaning and straightening... i feel unaccomplished.
it's also been raining here today, most all day. and that seems to directly correlate to how much i actually manage to do in a day -- or not, as the case may be.
i have to go look for something to wear this weekend tonight, and i really don't feel like it.
at least i get a mini-vacation this weekend. i hope that it all goes well.
